For too long, the promise of the digital age has flowed in one direction: from the outside in. It has treated communities as markets to be entered, data to be extracted, and consumers to be served. This has left many of the world’s most resilient and capable communities—particularly in rural and developing regions—on the wrong side of the digital divide.
At DeReticular, we believe it’s time to flip the script.
We are not here to sell a product. We are here to deliver a new foundation. We are building the Rural Infrastructure Operating System (RIOS)—a powerful, decentralized platform that gives communities the tools to build their own futures, on their own terms.
This is the blueprint for the next economy. An economy that is local, resilient, and owned by the people it serves.
How It Works: The RIOS Innovation Hub
So, what is RIOS? Imagine a small, powerful computer server, designed to work anywhere. Now, imagine a thousand of them, working together in a “mesh network” across a community. This is an Innovation Hub.
This network creates a secure, powerful, local cloud that acts as the community’s own digital nervous system. It provides:
- Resilient Connectivity: The Hub operates independently. If the external internet goes down, the local network stays up. Communication, commerce, and critical services continue without interruption.
- Data Sovereignty: A community’s data is its most valuable asset. With RIOS, that data is processed and stored locally, owned and controlled by the community itself, not a distant corporation.
- A Platform for Everything: On top of this hardware runs the RIOS software—an operating system for the entire community. It’s the platform where a new, local digital economy can be built, with applications for local commerce, energy management, education, healthcare, and more.
Stronger Together: How We Work with the AI Alliance
An Innovation Hub is incredibly powerful on its own. But its true potential is unlocked when it connects to a larger ecosystem of shared intelligence: The AI Alliance.
The AI Alliance is the collaborative brain that connects every DeReticular-powered community. It allows a farmer in Uganda to benefit from a new crop management technique developed in Appalachia. It enables a small business in Southeast Asia to adopt a successful e-commerce model pioneered by a counterpart in Latin America.
The Alliance is our commitment to a core belief: we are stronger together. It ensures that every community in our network benefits from the collective wisdom, challenges, and successes of all the others. It’s a network where innovation is shared, not siloed, creating a compounding effect that accelerates progress for everyone.
Our North Star: A Calendar of What’s to Come
Our vision is ambitious, and our plan is disciplined. We measure our progress not just in deployments, but in the empowerment we unlock. This is our North Star Calendar—our public commitment to the milestones that will bring this new economy to life.
- Milestone 1: The Spark (Project Genesis – Kaabong, Uganda)
Our journey begins with our first full-scale Innovation Hub in Kaabong, Uganda. This is more than a pilot; it’s our proof-of-concept for the world. In partnership with local leaders, we will deploy the first 1,000-server network and validate the RIOS platform as a transformative force for community-led economic development. - Milestone 2: The Network Ignites (The First Constellation)
With the success of Project Genesis, we will expand to new and diverse environments. Our next phase involves launching two additional Hubs in distinct regions, such as rural Appalachia in the United States and a developing community in Southeast Asia. This milestone will prove the universal adaptability of the RIOS model and officially ignite the AI Alliance, allowing these first Hubs to begin learning from one another. - Milestone 3: The Ecosystem Awakens (The Global Creator Economy)
This is where the network truly comes alive. We will open the RIOS platform to third-party developers, entrepreneurs, and creators worldwide. Our goal is to empower anyone, anywhere, to build applications and services that serve local needs. This will unleash a wave of innovation, creating a vibrant marketplace of tools for education, agriculture, sustainable energy, and more—all built by the community, for the community.
Our ultimate North Star is a world dotted with thousands of these thriving, interconnected, and self-sufficient local economies.
This is more than a company. It is a movement to re-localize control, democratize opportunity, and build a more resilient and equitable world from the ground up.
The blueprint is ready. It’s time to build.
